Notes:

  • Review the 3 year tech plan as presented to the school board
    • Last 4 Years Plan
    • The Next 3 Years Plan
Jeanine spoke about the tech plan and why it was written and presented to the school board before it had input from the rest of the TRT's.  They did this to build a bridge of understanding with the school board.  She wants us to review the plan and give feedback.
  • How do we as TRT's help teachers to help students monitor their growth using technology.
  • How do we help teachers be comfortable with data and displaying student data.
  • Teacher proficiency and the tech assessment should be part of the hiring process and should be in the contract and possibly 2 late starts one in the fall and one in the spring to assess the teachers.
  • Discussion about building into the contract a webmaster stipend.
  • Possibly build the technology training into the literacy and math trainings during the year.  This would allow us to reach a large number of staff members with the same message.  It would also let them see the connection between their subject and it's delivery using technology.  This would then have them out of the classroom less or the same and get tech training.
  • Template page for putting items that can be used by many on the web and downloadable(i.e.. certain spreadsheets, district or building specific forms, successful data collection and charting files).
  • Caseload for the TRTs, increase the number of TRT's at each location based on the case load.  We will discuss this at our 2/11/04 TRT day.
  • Discussed the need to figure out how we "groom" new people to feed into the TRT AND TRA roles as people leave, change, retire, etc.
  • Description/list of technology staff dev. recommended for a new teacher:
    1. Taking the Technology Assessment Survey

  • Brainstorm ways of getting lessons for each subject and grade level with the goal being that at every grade level K-12 we have a 3-8 lessons per subject that teachers can pick from to integrate technology into their student's learning.
    1. Have a contest and award each submitting lesson a T-Shirt then have 3 prizes to be awarded to the best 3 lessons as graded by a rubric and selection committee.
    2. Put a form on the web to have a quick way to input a lesson idea.
    3. Templates in Word and AppleWorks for the lesson format.
    4. Email the Tech Coach with current uses of technology and he will come to the building and solicit the information from the teacher and get some video of the lesson and some samples of student work to put with the lesson.
