  • Keyboarding at the 3rd and 4th grade:
    • What are you using, Alpha Smarts or Labs (Keywords is the adopted curriculum)?
      • Charlie had a training with his teachers in the computer labs.  We would like the principals to make sure that keyboarding is being done consistently in their buildings.
      • Eleanor talked about keyboarding and offered to come and do a training or give us any help we need to get this implemented correctly and ergonomically.
      • When teachers who are not keyboard teachers take their kids in the lab they need to give reminders to the students on proper keyboarding skills and techniques.
    • Who needs training or help, etc.?
      • Columbia teachers need some help in keyboarding, Check on Washington's keyboarding program.
      • Get the message that all teachers are teachers of keyboarding.
  • Jeanine updated us on a conference she went to.
    • Big push at the federal level toward science, math, and tech.
    • Jobs now are requiring high skill jobs that involve technology.
  • What are the major training issues or needs for the staff in your specific building?
    • Online lessons online that address the areas of the Family Guides for each grade level.(TRT's)
    • Web page design, Palm, OS X, Skyward, File Management, Family Guides, Easy Grade, Graphing, Presentations, Database Report Cards.
  • Mary Armstrong - Professional Development Advisory Committee
    • Background of what building has what money? 
      Title II D - $36000, Title II A - Small part of this can go to pro dev in technology, Levy Pro Dev for TRT Training - $20000, One-on-One TRT days come out of Title II D. 
      We want all our staff to be at a level 2 on the Pilot survey in the required areas.
       
  • Technology Solutions that Work conference report.
    • Email link and notes to TRT
  • Talked about foundational knowledge.
  • Ron will rework the comp pro dev plan and resend to all for review.
