WHS TRT Meeeting/Training Notes 4-25-06

1. Each WHS department and their tech needs.

  • Science:
    • Common understanding of the Tech Support protocol. They have a large amount of workstations that have been supported by Gary in the past.
    • Mounted LCD projector's in each classroom (Currently have 7 projectors).
    • Tangerine iMac's need to be replaced (12+)
  • Math:
    • Projectors (3) Currently have 3
    • Document cameras (3) Currently have 0
    • Currently Have 10 station iBook Cart. Possibly building sign up. Possibly add to this cart during refresh.
  • English:
    • Projectors (3) Currently have 5
    • Document cameras (2) Currently have 0
  • History:
    • Projectors (4) Currently have 4
    • Document cameras (2) Currently have 0
  • International Language:
    • Projectors (2) Currently have 4
    • Document cameras (2) Currently have 0
  • Business: Todd gather
  • PE/Health:
    • Mount LCD projectors in each Health classroom.
    • Refresh on laptops (FYI this will happen as district staff refreshes)
    • Projectors in small gym, weight room, and wrestling gym
    • Two digital video cameras
  • Music: Fred gather
    • Needed document cameras (1) Currently have 0
  • Ag/Voc: Todd gather
  • Special Education: Jay gather
  • Art: Todd gather
  • Computer Labs
    • Resource area labs:
      • Front lab upgrade to 384 (32 computers)
      • Rear lab most are ok 10 or so need upgrading (34 computers)
    • Red Room upgrade to 384 (30 computers)
    • Library lab should be ok all are at least 256


2. How the departments will be allocated to each of the 4 TRT's: what is equitable and fair?

  • Todd:
    • Agriculture, Art, Business, Math, Science
  • Jay:
    • English, Social Studies
  • Kory:
    • Athletics, Attendance, Counselors/Career Center, Library, PE/Health
  • Fred:
    • Administration, ESL, International Language, Music, Special Education


3. What the WHS Tech Support Protocol is and how do properly do this. Let's be consistent.

    1. User fills out help desk request form:
      • Classified fills out classified form
      • Certified fills out certified form
    2. TRT responsible does a Reply to ALL so that all TRT's and user sees the progress.
      • Addresses the issue "I will see you 2nd period to help"
      • TRT not available no response within 4 hours then other TRT's will respond to the user with a reply to all.
      • If the issue is a TSS issue then Reply to All and add TSS to recipients list
    1. Upon task completion the TRT or TSS will send an email to the user and all others indicating status (done, pending, escalated, etc) *make sure TSS checks with operational tech on the status of an issue that had been escalated to them.


4. How the WHS "Help Desk" is effective and how it can be improved for next year. Who will accept this responsibility?

  • Assign a period for this to be done
  • continue to refine the help desk page
    • Look for the changes soon from Todd
    • Fred will start to maintain help desk web page with Todd's help


5. Who will be in charge of organizing Tech Thursdays?

  • Posting TRT Thursday requests for others to see
  • Have a TRT (Kory) be the TRT Thursday evangalist that will advertise, evangelize, and push the process.
  • What works - what doesn't? How can we do these better?
    • Add an afterschool and/or before school session
    • Feedback form online for each session to be filled out
      • Date, Facilitator, 4 ?s, Period,No show,Comments,
    • Test out a before/after TRT Thursday May 11 (Fred Before School, Steve After School)
      • 7:30 - 8:00 and 3:15 - 3:45
    • If numbers and budget support doing 2 a month try to do this in 06-07.
    • Alternate areas if your room is used during your prep:
      • Library, faculty room, conference room, department office.
    • Most experiences have been positive
    • Make sure the user is using the computer and you are guiding the proces


6. Who will organizing, advertising, and encouraging Workshops on Demand?

  • Have a TRT (Jay) be the WOD evangalist that will advertise, evangelize, and push the process.
  • Drop down menu on the Help Desk containing:
    • Sign up now
    • Find a WOD buddy
    • See what is scheduled already
    • Sample topics
    What works - what doesn't? How can we do these better?
    • Keep the numbers accurate to 3-5 PER facilitator. Request another facilitator if you have more than this.
    • Getting past agendas on WODs (Ron will post on the WOD page)
    • Communicate with the participants to find out exactly (with as much specificity as they can) what they want/need.
    • Guided practice not individual planning/prep


8. What current equipment does a WHS TRT have. Is there an equipment need that we must resolve before next year?

  • Steve's firewire drive is going to Kory.
  • Steve's laptop to either Chris or Jake. Chris or Jake's laptop goes to ?
  • Gary's laptop, palm Tungsten C, firewire drive going to Fred.
  • Fred's laptop go to Mikkelsen.
  • Upgrade TRT firewire drives. Software images.


9. What kinds of trainings would be the most effective for our building TRT's and how can we communicate that properly?

  • LIT mornings/faculty meetings have time to share technology best practices
  • Ron will continue to create/maintain an online database with integration lessons and ideas.
